Jennysha's job log: 8
Jennysha Patel
- May 2009.
The story so far… Jennysha graduated two years ago, and is looking for ways into publishing. Meanwhile she combines work in a bookshop and a library. Missing I missed a week, but now I’m back. I am of course referring to the absence of my blog in the last prospects graduate magazine. All die-hard fans will know what I am talking about. For the rest of you, please see all previous blog entries to become addicted. Would you believe the reason why I didn’t write last time was because I couldn’t think of what to write! Honestly. I was overcome with some form of bloggers’ block (as opposed to writers’ block). Seriously. I much prefer to write something of quality and something I am happy with instead of simply repeating myself and writing for writings’ sake. A prospects editor actually told me to get in some sort of scrap at work so that I would have something to document. I will have you know I am not that kind of girl. Anyway, there has been too much going on of late for me to even think about adding any of my own shenanigans to the mix. No news is good Last time, I was applying for another job at another company, from whom I haven’t heard, so I can only assume interviews have taken place and I was unsuccessful in this case. This is probably a good thing in my case, because it turns out, as a consequence of people high up (not in the heavens, I mean high-level executives and other ‘suits’) changing their minds, I was granted a wish and indeed was offered an interview to be made permanent and have a chance to stay on at the library! Woohoo! The interview went pretty well considering I could not concentrate whilst attempting to prepare the night before and so now it is up to those higher up (I refer to the powers that be as well as management here!) to make the right choice. It hasn’t been the most pleasant of situations, though. Normally when you apply for a job and are invited to interview, it’s stressful enough knowing you will be competing against a handful of other candidates. On this occasion, we were one another’s competition and this only makes it harder. It’s a dog eat dog world and yes everyman for himself, but I don’t like thinking that way. I want everyone to remain as they are and to carry on working together because I believe we are a great bunch, if I do say so myself, but I can only hope everything works out for the benefit of us all. Meanwhile I have requested for a reduction in hours at the bookshop, for the safety of my soul and to improve my chances of being offered permanent hours at the library. They still have no idea as regards to what is happening with my library job and feel like they have been dealt a poor hand, but as I mentioned in a previous blog, I need to keep firm hold of the reins. In other areas of my life, I received a backlash when attempting romance at work and rekindled a forgotten but much valued friendship. All in a day’s work. I kid you not. Read my previous job logs
