The ACCA qualification has become the fastest-growing international accounting qualification and is highly-rated by employers and members worldwide. The qualification is recognised as being challenging, developing expertise and knowledge which are relevant to employers. The ACCA is renowned for the ability of its professionals to apply a broad range of strategic skills in the workplace.
The ACCA is recognised as a provider of international qualifications - a reputation which stems from ACCA being the first body to examine in international accounting standards, now increasingly a requirement for financial reporting. Multinational organisations also recognise the value of having accountants and finance professionals trained to consistently high standards in all their operations.
The ACCA is a broad-based qualification, focusing on the essential skills of accounting, business and finance. It offers a choice of examinations and work experience competences to allow you to tailor the path of the qualification to suit your needs and aspirations.
Birmingham City Business School is an ACCA Platinum Level Tuition Provider. It prepares students for internal examinations in January and May (Fundamentals Knowledge Papers) and external examinations of ACCA in December and June (Fundamentals Skills and Professional Papers).
Subjects are specified by the ACCA and attendance comprises lectures and workshops. You are advised to obtain up-to-date information from the ACCA on subjects studied. If you have previous accountancy qualifications, you may be able to claim exemptions from certain ACCA papers. The ACCA will advise you on your exemption status.
In order to gain the ACCA professional qualification you are required to pass 14 exams, 9 of which are eligible for exemption. The qualification is made up of the Fundamentals Knowledge Module (Papers F1-F3), the Fundamentals Skills Module (Papers F4-F9) and the Professional Module (Essential Papers P1-P3 and two Option Papers from P4-P7). Students must pass or be exempt from the papers in the Knowledge Module before progression to the Skills Module, and must then complete all or some of the Skills Papers before progression to the Professional Module.
At Birmingham City Business School, we offer the ACCA course on a full-time and part-time basis.
The full-time one-year course includes the fundamentals skills papers F4-F9, and prepares you for the external examinations of the ACCA, held in December and June. This course is open to Home/EU and international students.
The part-time course, which is taught over a four-year period, includes the same fundamentals skills papers as the full-time course, as well as F1-F3 papers. The part-time course is open to Home/EU students only.
