Entry requirements
To register for the MSc in Medicinal Chemistry, you must, normally, hold a qualification equivalent to an honours degree in science or a science-related subject, or else have other experience that equips you for the study of science at masters level. This qualification assumes that you have general IT skills such as ability to use web browsers, word processing and email. There is more advice about entry and preparation in the individual module descriptions.
Information for International Students
All teaching is in English and your proficiency in the English language should be adequate for the level of study you wish to take. We strongly recommend that students have achieved an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 7.
Course description
This postgraduate degree course enables you to study aspects of medicinal chemistry that explore the links between disease, mechanisms of action and the development of safe, effective commercial drugs. You have the opportunity to pursue these topics across a number of different disease therapies using the innovative teaching methods pioneered by The Open University, while developing a wide range of skills associated with masters-level study. You study taught modules and take a medicinal chemistry project module that allows you to undertake a substantial piece of independent research based on the knowledge and skills you develop.
