Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits in the light of the nature and scope of the programme and if they can demonstrate a commitment or have experience in the sector.

Emphasis throughout our International Festivals and Event Management course is therefore placed on developing a range of professional, managerial and transferable skills that are aligned with an extensive knowledge of management disciplines applicable to tourism and events today.

Learning and assessment

The learning environment is organised to ensure that key concepts, theories, and where appropriate, practices relevant to management across the events industry form a central role in teaching and learning.

Throughout the programme you’ll engage in a range of learning activities including lectures, seminars, tourism management-related projects, presentations, group work and many more. Each learning activity is designed to ensure that the teaching and learning is optimised in a real and practical way.

Assessment includes reports, essays, presentations, seminar papers and for those completing the Master of Science Programme, a Dissertation or a Management Consultancy Project. All of these are designed to relate to current momentum and challenge of the Festivals and Events Industry.

Further information

Gain an extensive range of knowledge and understanding of the subject of festivals and events and be able to evaluate contemporary issues in festivals and events and related areas. Critically assess the importance of both theory and practice for effective festivals and event management in a global business environment. Write critically, and at length, on a specific topic related to festivals and events.

You are encouraged to question and present alternative approaches to different management concepts within festival and event management. In particular, you are expected to be able to contextualise management practice within a range of appropriate concepts and theories.
