Course description
This well-established programme is delivered through the School of English and History, with inputs from colleagues in the University?s Arts and Humanities Research Institute. It has many links with the museum and heritage profession throughout Ireland and you will have the advantage of meeting with established practitioners through lectures and visits. The programme comprises an evaluation of key issues in the contemporary heritage and museum sectors, together with the study of exhibition practice and a comprehensive analysis of the ways in which heritage finds expression in the cultural landscape. Key areas of investigation include the structure of the heritage sector in Ireland, north and south; analysis of the social, economic and cultural contexts of heritage; and the creation, care and management of museums and heritage sites.

It is ideal for those who are seeking further career development in the heritage and museum sectors, as well as for graduates of art, geography, history, archaeology and allied disciplines, who wish to develop their research interests in these fields.
