Northumbria University - Built and Natural Environment
For a number of years the School of the Built and Natural Environment has been at the forefront of new technologies. We have a history of employing the latest electronic media in our research and throughout our teaching.
MSc
Northumbria University - Engineering
Note: Starting January 2012, then every September and January Continuing rapid growth in the renewable energy industry has resulted in strong demand for highly trained engineers with a specialisation in renewable and sustainable energy technologies in the UK and worldwide. This programme aims to provide students with a core foundation in the key Engineering aspects of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, including wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, biomass, and hybrid energy systems.
MSc
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
The programme has been designed in consultation with industry, looking specifically at RF IC design for communications systems and associated microelectronic support technologies. Moduled include, Microelectronics, Communication, Digital Electronic Design Automation, Advanced Embedded System Technologies and Design, and Silicon Electronic Design.
MSc / PGDip / PGCert
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
This programme is designed to offer computing graduates and established computing professionals the opportunity to extend their skills in modern applied computing technologies.
MSc
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
The programme is concerned with preparing computing/IT graduates and/or graduates from other backgrounds who have good IT system development or system management experience, with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage and lead the development of major information systems and/or e-business systems resources. The core curriculum includes project management with PRINCE2, security systems management, the management of change, knowledge management principles, e-business systems management, consultancy skills and IT strategy.
MSc
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
The programme is designed to allow students to update, extend and deepen their knowledge on a flexible programme to enhance their career opportunities in industry or to progress to undertake further research in emerging technologies in the Electrical Power field.
MSc
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
Engineering Management is used to describe the management of the engineering and technical processes that transform a conceptual idea into an operating system. This involves matching the system performance parameters and the preferred system configuration in order to satisfy the requirements; the planning and the control of the technical program tasks; the integration of the engineering specialties; and the management of a totally integrated effort of design engineering, computer software engineering, test engineering, safety engineering, security engineering, logistics engineering, production engineering, and specialty engineering (EMC, environmental, etc.), to meet constraints such as cost, technical performance and schedule objectives.
MSc
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
This programme has been designed with a complementary set of modules that will build skills to the level that would enable students to complete external CISCO, CCNA and CCNP examinations in addition to achieving the MSc qualification.
MPhil / PhD
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
Since 2001 the School has published over 750 articles in scientific and engineering journals and at international conferences. The department has international links and attracts appriximately £2m. in research funding per year.
PhD / MPhil
Northumbria University - Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences
The group's research is multi-disciplinary and brings together knowledge and strong expertise in mathematics and computer science. The research has fundamental as well as applied aspects and the synergy between theory and application is the key to our approach.
