This programme is designed for graduates with a language background (eg, English, modern or classical languages, linguistics) looking to explore, in depth, the theory and methodology of linguistics; from speech sounds (phonetics and phonology) to grammar (morphology and syntax) and the study of meaning (semantics and pragmatics).You take a total of four modules over the autumn and spring terms. The core modules provide a solid grounding in linguistic theory and methodology, while a range of optional modules either develop themes from the Principles of Language core module, or explore the relationship between language and other disciplines.
