Looking forward...Work has begun on one of Bangor University's most exciting projects in its history - a world-class Arts and Innovation Centre set in the heart of Bangor. The project, known as Pontio (Welsh 'to bridge'), aims to connect the arts, technologies and sciences in a unique complex that also engages students, businesses and the local community. The building will house a new theatre with improved facilities, a multimedia centre, a studio theatre, facilities to show films, open foyer access areas and social spaces. Plans include a 500+ seat theatre, rehearsal studio, and an outdoor amphitheatre, all accompanied by exciting new social facilities including bars, dining and park areas. Built with the local community, families, children as well as wider national and international audiences in mind, the Centre will become a welcoming place for all to enjoy and be amazed!
