World-leading research

The university's world-leading research directly influences your teaching. Its lecturers have strong links with industry, and courses designed around  the needs of employers mean that DMU graduates work for employers including the BBC, Rolls Royce, The Daily Telegraph, Nike and Microsoft.

DMU boasts a strong research profile across a range of disciplines. Innovative projects merge areas including music and software design, or architecture and energy efficiency. Other research crosses traditional boundaries, such as designing new hospital wards, sustainable retail design, and developing local and national health policy.

The university's research has significant impact in the commercial and public sectors. This reflects the fact that research is usually carried out in close collaboration with local and national government bodies, the NHS, small businesses, and global multinationals.

Facilities

DMU's continued investment in facilities allows you to use industry-standard equipment and the most advanced technology. This has resulted in professional facilities like the Hugh Aston Building for Business and Law, the Creative Technology Studios, and the Performance Arts Centre for Excellence building. The Kimberlin Library is open 24 hours a day, and three learning zones offer quiet space to study and practise presentations.

Postgraduates have specialist facilities including the 'postgraduate pod' in the Hugh Aston Building and the graduate centre in the Clephan Building. Investment on campus is ongoing, with a new sports centre designed by the architects behind London's 2012 aquatic centre and featuring a swimming pool, climbing wall, café and more.
