Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities

The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities brings together leading research, award-winning work, and innovation in the university's many creative disciplines. We offer a range of postgraduate courses that are designed with employability in mind, ensuring you gain the skills and experience required by, and relevant in industry today.

Art and Design

Our art and design courses deliver an advanced enquiry-led education, designed to prepare and challenge for a globalised creative world. All of our courses are project-based and centred around the studio, where you will learn through collaborative and personalised teaching experiences. Our dedicated tutors come from industry, practice and research, which will ensure that your work is responding to real-world issues that are grounded in both theory and practice.

Fashion and Textiles

The School of Fashion and Textiles is founded upon a rich heritage of industry connections and academic expertise. The school offers a diverse portfolio of postgraduate programmes and an ethos of inclusivity, sustainability and technical innovation. Our courses address the environmental and ethical challenges faced by the industry and ensure graduates develop their skills to be future-facing and responsible designers, communicators, researchers and managers.

Humanities

Faculty of Business and Law

The Faculty of Business and Law offers a wide range of industry-aligned postgraduate courses. By combining theoretical and practical learning, our courses provide a platform to enhance your career prospects within various sectors. Indeed, our course content is informed by the latest industry developments, ensuring you are prepared for the employment market.

You can benefit from strong links with major professional bodies and employers, allowing you to build your professional network. We also have accreditations and certifications from respected bodies, including the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and more. Some of these are embedded within our courses or give you exemptions towards achieving them.

From accounting to law to international business and project management, courses have been designed to enhance your skills and knowledge within a specialist area and prepare you for your future career.

You’ll be taught in our purpose-built Hugh Aston building, which offers modern study facilities, such as IT labs, study suites, learning zones and a café.

In addition, our Law students can benefit from law-specific facilities such as a library, mock courtrooms and client interviewing spaces. You will also have access to the Oxford Law Trove, which contains around 200 law textbooks supporting your learning across core and optional modules.

We also have a dedicated Bloomberg Trading room, installed with industry-standard software giving you an experience of a real trading floor environment.

Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media

The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media postgraduate programmes benefit from decades of well-established academic and industry expertise.

Many of our postgraduate programmes benefit from a new block model for delivering our courses, known as Education 2030. This means a more simplified timetable where you will study one subject at a time instead of several at once. You will have more time to engage with your learning and get to know the teaching team and course mates. You will receive faster feedback through more regular assessment, and have a better study-life balance to enjoy other important aspects of university life.

Learning is driven by expertise from leading research centres and institutes and you will have access to multi-million-pound state-of-the-art facilities. Our Cyber Security laboratories are among the best equipped facilities of this type in the UK, designed with industry leaders to meet the highest forensics and security standards.

A range of our engineering courses are endorsed and accredited by professional engineering bodies including the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Energy Institute and the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. Many of our engineering graduates are employed as engineers, project leaders and managers for roles in design, research and development.

We take pride in producing globally employable graduates with our wide range of postgraduate study programmes and our previous graduates have successfully gained employment at companies such as the BBC, BMW, IBM, and Next Plc

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences brings together high-quality education taught by a team of experienced, research-active academics; using specialist facilities with cutting-edge technologies; helping to take your professional learning to the next level.

Our strong links with professional and regulatory bodies such as the Institute of Biomedical Science, the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Health and Care Professions Council provide an important part of our quality assurance process; with many of our programmes accredited or endorsed by a recognised professional body.

The Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences

Our ethos within The Leicester School of Allied Health Science is to develop students into caring practitioners who think critically and apply evidence-based practice, helping to develop your research and investigative skills.

The Leicester School of Pharmacy

With a reputation of more than 110 years of experience in pharmacy teaching, The Leicester School of Pharmacy boasts professional accreditation from the General Pharmaceutical Council as well as strong industry links with sector leaders including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer and AstraZeneca. By encouraging interdisciplinary working we can help ensure your learning is relevant to current industry practice.

The School of Applied Social Sciences

Our range of courses within the Social Science school is designed for professional practitioners seeking to develop their knowledge and understanding of both their area of specialism and the rapidly changing contexts in which they work.

The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery

The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery has more than 50 years teaching experience. Our post registration programmes are supported by a suite of modules which can be completed as standalone CPD modules and study days, or towards credit for academic qualifications, providing you with the quality learning experience and the ability to keep up-to-date with new clinical practices.
