The University is made up of three academic schools - the Glasgow School for Business and Society, the School of Health and Life Sciences and the School of Engineering and Built Environment. Research

We have a long tradition of conducting research that is economically and socially relevant - applying new knowledge to problems of global significance in areas such as health, the environment and economic development. The results of RAE 2008 fully confirmed Glasgow Caledonian University's international profile in research. Our submission in Allied Health Professions places us overall in the top ten universities in the UK. Our submission in the Built and Natural Environment places us in the top twenty universities in the UK and, in research on sustainable urban environments and building design as well as the field of waste management and recycling, as the leading university in Scotland. Research DegreesOpportunities for full-time or part-time research leading to the higher degrees of MPhil or PhD at GCU are available in all departments. StudentshipsA number of research studentships are available in the university for a period of three years. Studentships give successful applicants a maintenance grant, access to all university facilities and entitlement to apply for registration for an MPhil or PhD. Facilities
Glasgow Caledonian University provides one of the best learning environments in the UK at our modern campus in the heart of Glasgow. Other facilities include the Arc fitness centre, Students' Association, the refectory and learning cafes, computer labs across the campus and extensive student support services. AccommodationSituated just across the road from our campus, our Student Accommodation complex Caledonian Court houses 660 students in 100 modern, self-catering flats.
