The Faculties
The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is led by Professor Nicholas Rees. The Faculty includes six departments in Music; Fine Art and Design; Drama, Dance and Performance Studies based at the Creative Campus - as well as English; Politics, History, Communication and Media; Theology, Philosophy and Religious Studies located at Hope Park. Theology and Religious Studies, English, and Music are all areas in which internationally excellent research is conducted, some of which, in Theology and Religious Studies has been ranked as world leading. There is internationally significant research expertise in Drama, Dance, History and Politics and growing research expertise in Media and Fine and Applied Arts. The Faculty of Education, headed by Professor Bart McGettrick, includes all Initial Teacher Training programmes (BA QTS and PGCE), Disability Studies, Education Studies, Early Childhood Studies and Childhood and Youth Studies as well as a range of Foundation Degrees, Masters and CPD courses. There is a growing research culture within the Faculty. The Faculty of Sciences & Social Sciences is led by Dr John Brinkman. The Faculty strives to be excellent in both research and learning and teaching whilst providing exceptional levels of student support. There is a broad and varied research culture within the Faculty, with research groups in, amongst others, Business and Management, Health and Wellbeing, Landscapes, Social Work, Computer Sciences and various aspects of Psychology. Liverpool Hope University has two campuses, one three miles from the city centre, the other within a brisk walk of it. Students based at both Hope Park and The Creative Campus will find relaxed and inspiring places in which to learn. Hope ParkThe landscaped green spaces of Hope Park The University's main campus, Hope Park, is located in the southern suburbs of Liverpool just a few miles from the city centre and offers the finest learning environments you will find at any University. It also offers extensive gardens that provide a stunning environment in which to learn and live at any time of the year. Creative CampusThe Creative Campus is home to the University's creative and performing arts subjects in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. With the spectacular Angel Field renaissance garden at its hears, the primary buildings are The Cornerstone, a beautifully refurbished Victorian school, and the brand new Capstone Building which opened in 2010. Here students follow courses in art, design, music and drama, close to some of the world's finest cultural institutions. Hope is the leading University in Liverpool for engagement with the cultural life of the city. Indeed The Creative Campus is home to a range of unique cultural partnerships with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, European Opera Centre, 10/10 Ensemble, Milapfest, Steinway and Tate Liverpool, to name just a few. Liverpool is a vibrant student city offering plenty of cultural, sporting, musical and social opportunities during your time at Liverpool Hope. In 2008 Liverpool had a successful year as European Capital of Culture and Hope played a major role in the events programme, hosting events and getting involved in city-wide art exhibitions. Visitors to Liverpool are constantly amazed by the rich tapestry of theatres, concert halls, museums, galleries, bars, cosmopolitan shops and restaurants, which the birthplace of The Beatles has to offer. Sporting fans will enjoy the friendly rivalry between Liverpool FC and Everton FC, the world-famous Grand National which attracts thousands to Aintree Racecourse, the thrills of Rugby League and the golfing excitement of The Open Championship. The historic waterfront has been a focal point of the city for over eight hundred years, so it seems appropriate that the Pier Head - including the world famous Liver Buildings - is a UNESCO - recognised World Heritage Site. Being a student at Liverpool Hope offers you the chance to get involved the cultural aspects of the city. The University works closely with The Playhouse and Everyman theatres, The Tate and Bluecoat art galleries, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, FACT, European Opera Centre and numerous smaller galleries and theatre companies. How to applyApplying for a PG Certificate, Diploma, MA, MSc, MBA If you are applying for one of the Postgraduate taught programmes listed above, you need to apply direct to Liverpool Hope University. Once the form is completed, you need to send it to the Postgraduate Administrator with all the relevant documentation. Applications can be accepted by post or email as long as any additional documentation is sent by post or scanned by email. Liverpool Hope University has two main intakes a year for postgraduate study - January and September. Not all programmes are available at each intake so it is important to contact the Postgraduate team for guidance. When to applyIt is advisable to apply for a postgraduate course as early as possible. International students particularly should apply as early as possible to ensure there is sufficient time to apply for a visa and make all necessary preparations for moving to the UK.
