Our Global Reputation
is evident in our excellent teaching and research record. The Faculty of Arts is at the forefront of multimedia, arts and cultural research. We are home to the Arts and Humanities Research Board’s CHARM (Centre for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music), the centre of Multimedia Performance History and is a leading research centre for the Holocaust.
In the Faculty of History and Social Sciences, we have considerable strengths in the study of global markets, politics and social history. There are dedicated research groups furthering original research into Public Service Organisations and Sustainability.
The Faculty of Science has a strong reputation for the diversity and depth of expertise ranging from the development of oral and genetic vaccines, to GM technology research in food crops, working to fight against cancer and heart disease, Nanotechnology and the development of quantum computing devices to quaternary science and the dynamics of environmental change.

greets you as you enter the grounds and it is widely recognised as one of the most spectacular university buildings. Elsewhere on campus you will find academic buildings, halls of residence, the Students’ Union and all the amenities you might expect from a top class university.
Our size means you cannot move far without seeing a familiar face and our campus is renowned for having a particularly friendly ambience. London is also easily accessible, with a 40 minute journey taking you into the heart of the capital and the UK’s major transport network.
We are situated between the village of Englefield Green and the town of Egham. Further afield is Windsor, famous for the Royal Castle and Great Park and Staines, which has a large shopping centre, cinema complex and sports facilities.
As a cosmopolitan community, with students from 130 countries, we focus on the support and development of the individual. Our friendly campus, 19 miles west of central London, provides a unique environment for university study.
We offer a wide range of accommodation to postgraduate students, close to all campus facilities and data cabling has been installed in the majority of our halls of residence. Students on research programmes can take part in a wide range of courses offered by the Research Skills Programme.
