Sheffield Hallam is one of the UK's largest and most progressive universities with more than 35,400 students and almost 4,400 staff. Based in Yorkshire's second largest city, we operate from two campuses - our City Campus, and our Collegiate Campus which is around 15 minutes walk from the city centre.

World leading research

We have particular strengths in sport and sport engineering, materials science and engineering, art and design and social and economic research around housing and regeneration.

According to the latest Research Assessment Exercise,

• 68% of our research activity was rated at international quality or above
• 8% of our research gained the top rating of 4*, meaning that it is world leading
• we continue to be ranked in the top 10 of post-1992 universities for the quality of our research
• we were also awarded just over £4.5m in quality related funding for research in 2010-11.

Travelling to Sheffield

Sheffield has excellent rail and road links. Our City Campus is immediately opposite Sheffield's railway station and only around two hours away from London by train.
