UCL is committed to attracting the very best students irrespective of their background. UCL is very successful in attracting sources of funding, particularly for graduate research students. UCL has demonstrated its commitment to attracting the very brightest students by maintaining the Overseas Research Student award, which the UK Government discontinued in 2009.

You should research your funding options thoroughly. Many scholarships and awards are listed on UCL's Scholarships site.

Many other awards, including studentships, are held at department level and even with specific academics. It is therefore important to check with the department, division or research group that you are interested in. Contact details can be found either on academic department websites or in the online Graduate Prospectus subject index

International Students

UCL attracts students from 150 different countries and has dedicated resources to support international students to get the most out of their time at UCL. All international students are invited to a comprehensive orientation programme at the beginning of their studies to help them get off to a flying start. Students from outside the EU, who have not studied in London before, are also guaranteed a place in halls of residence. Check the International Office website for country specific information. Accommodation

Three-quarters of UCL's student accommodation is within a fifteen minute walk from UCL's central London campus. The University of London's accommodation office can also help you to find appropriate private accommodation, including house-shares with students with similar interests.

Featured Programmes

UCL is building on its existing strength in teaching and research on the Americas by establishing the UCL Institute of the Americas as part of the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences.

The UCL Institute of the Americas will promote, coordinate and provide a focus for research and postgraduate teaching on the Americas - Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States.
