About the University

The University of Bolton boasts a long history of being an education provider, with its origins as one of the first mechanics institute, opening in 1824 and being granted University status in 2005. With a student body of 13,000 you will get the best of all worlds, based on a modern, compact campus no-one feels anonymous and, with small teaching groups, you can be sure you are a name, not just a number. Our teaching quality has consistently won the highest ratings possible from the Government's quality control agency and we have professional accreditation for some of our courses. .
