University Square

University Square, to be located in the heart of Stratford, is a unique collaboration between Birkbeck, University of London and the University of East London. Our joint vision is to create a major new university hub which will meet the growing aspirations of local people in the heart of east London. Students will be able to study in order to reskill and upskill, and enhance their employment possibilities.

Building will begin on site in July 2011 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2013. University Square will open to students that autumn.

New Stratford Library

We will be opening a new library for our Stratford campus early 2013. The library will create an inspiring new building that will transform our students library and learning experiences. It will have a whole range of new services and learning spaces designed around the needs of the modern learner. At every stage of the design process, we have involved students and staff so that the new library at Stratford will become the place where every student and academic will find just what they are looking for.

National Student Survey

UEL has seen its overall student satisfaction rating increase from 76 per cent to 81 per cent – a significant increase of 5 per cent. In this latest survey, UEL also experienced a rise of 21 places in the overall table of UK universities and recorded a 97 per cent satisfaction rating in relation to its teacher training.

The NSS is broken down into seven categories, such as 'quality of teaching on my course' and 'learning resources', and UEL has recorded significant increases in every single category
