Superb locations

University Of Kent StudentsThe University of Kent has six exceptional postgraduate study locations; the UK campuses in Canterbury and Medway and the specialist postgraduate centres in Brussels, Paris,Athens and Rome. Canterbury and Medway are close to London with easy access by road and high-speed trains and there is easy and fast travel to mainland Europe including Paris and Brussels by air, Eurostar or ferry.

Canterbury

Surrounded by lush green countryside and with easy access to miles of beautiful coastline, the Canterbury campus is located in a thriving area of the country with fast transport links to nearby London and mainland Europe. Founded in 1965, it is Kent's original site and is built on 300 acres of parkland overlooking the historic city centre. Modern buildings are surrounded by open green spaces, courtyards, gardens, ponds and woodland, with stunning views of Canterbury and the Stour Valley. Woolf College provides dedicated postgraduate accommodation and study facilities.

Medway

Kent has a multimillion-pound campus with state-of-the-art buildings and facilities; the site isinclusive of the Historic Dockyard at Chatham Maritime where the School of Arts is located and was originally built in the early 1900s as a naval base. The extensive refurbishment of this space has resulted in truly exceptional and spacious study and studio facilities of the highest quality in a beautiful setting.

Brussels

Kent is the only UK university to have a postgraduate centre in 'the capital of Europe'. The Brussels School of International Studies offers a close-knit student community at the heart of Europe with excellent prospects for networking and professional advancement.

Brussels is the home of major international organisations such as the EU and NATO and the many international and non-governmental organisations based there. Students have the added opportunity of undertaking an internship with one of these organisations.

Paris

Our location in Paris allows students on a range of Master's programmes in the arts and humanities to spend a term studying in the heart of this leading centre for culture in Europe. It provides modern study and support facilities within 18th-century buildings in a historic corner of Montparnasse, with easy access to all the cultural resources on offer.

Athens

Kent's MA in Heritage Management, taught in partnership with the Athens University of Economics and Business, is ideally located in the Athenian suburb of Eleusina, the birthplace of Aeschylus and one of most important archaeological religious sites in the world as a location of the Eleusinian mysteries. It is also close to many other important sites including the Parthenon, Ancient Corinth, Nemea and Thebes.

Rome

Classical and Archaeological Studies in Rome examines the textual and material evidence for a wide cross-section of the ancient world and includes three convergent research and teaching pathways: ancient history, classical literature, and archaeology.

Kent's specialist postgraduate centre in Rome has been designed to combine our specialist teaching and research with the facilities of the American University in Rome and the cultural and learning opportunities that the City offers.

Research excellence

Kent has an excellent international reputation and our academic schools have exchange links, and are engaged in collaborative research with universities from around the world. An excellent performance in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) confirmed our position as one of the UK's leading universities when our academic schools were found to be engaged in research of international and world-class standing.

Postgraduate Study at Kent

A thriving intellectual community of students and staff is fundamental to Kent, in addition to lectures, seminars and one-to-one supervisions, our students are able to benefit from a rich and stimulating research culture. With programmes of study that are informed by research, students are able to develop skills and knowledge relevant to contemporary issues. Our research activities and collaborations with outside organisations create knowledge that is highly influential in many areas. Academic schools hold regular events to provide a forum for students and staff to discuss their ongoing research activities. Schools also invite speakers who are leaders in their field to give guest lectures at Kent. Postgraduate students are encouraged to take an active role in the academic community and develop their skills by presenting work at research seminars, participating in conferences and publishing papers.

Our international student body contributes to the cosmopolitan atmosphere and provides the ideal environment for analysis of global issues. Our libraries offer over a million books, periodicals and journals with subject-specific librarians and there are excellent teaching facilities with tailor-made specialist resources, including well-equipped laboratories and studios. The Graduate School works in partnership with academic schools to enhance the quality of the postgraduate student experience across all campuses, create a vibrant postgraduate community and co-ordinate the Transferable Skills Training Programme for postgraduate students. Graduation ceremonies are held in the beautiful medieval cathedrals of Canterbury and Rochester.
