PGDip Entrepreneurship graduate — Alexander Nicholson

Alexander Nicholson studied PGDip Entrepreneurship at Cambridge Judge Business School, and is now managing director of AutoTrip

Why did you choose this institution and course?

I wanted to study at an institution that I knew would be able to offer the latest knowledge and thought leadership on entrepreneurship. Cambridge was a natural choice as it is known for providing teaching of the highest standard while being at the heart of one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurial ecosystems.

What did the programme involve?

The course is very dynamic, blending online learning with traditional teaching and assignments. By being able to apply the learning from the course to what you’re doing in the real world, you understand and retain the relevance of the information much more.

What were the benefits of postgraduate study?

It helped me with running my own business by providing a clear structure and framework to assess problems, information, people, and most importantly myself. The course is not an end goal and shouldn’t be viewed as such. Instead it provides a knowledge base and guide to further educating and improving yourself after graduation.

What advice would you give to those considering postgraduate study?

We need to be continuously educating ourselves in the 21st century in order to remain competitive. As such, postgraduate study is becoming the norm for many industries. The only thing I would say is make sure you combine your passion with your degree.
