From manufacturing quality products both efficiently and safely, to ensuring delivery on time to our customers, the Engineering function in our businesses is vital. We are looking for people who have a real passion for engineering and who want to understand how the different strands of this function impact the workplace.
Over this 24-month graduate programme you will gain hands-on experience of production, learn about the processes and machinery used in manufacturing our products, spend time on the production line, solve product line breakdown problems as well as get involved in on-going maintenance.
- You will also gain experience by working in the following areas:
- Specifying and installing equipment
- Developing and applying maintenance techniques
- Leading teams of engineering technicians
- Interfacing with all functions across the business at all levels
This programme is designed to develop future engineering leaders in our business. We would expect you to come off our programme into an Engineering Manager position but our commitment to you goes beyond the graduate scheme. We see this as the first step in your ongoing career within engineering at ABF and anticipate you reaching a Site Engineering position within a further 4 years.
You will be offered the opportunity to become a Chartered Engineer on our programme and will receive extensive training, combining practical technical engineering skills with core management training. To find out more, visit our website.

We recruit 18-25 graduates each year into our Grocery division, which comprises eight consumer-facing businesses that manufacture and market a variety of well-known brands both nationally and internationally. The businesses have developed an enviable portfolio of leading grocery brands, such as Jordans cereals, Patak’s curry pastes, Kingsmill bread, Ryvita crispbread, Silver Spoon sugar, Twinings tea and many more! We’ve also recently acquired two fantastic sports nutrition brands; High 5 and Reflex Nutrition, further broadening the categories in which we operate.
We need our graduates to be adaptable, resilient, comfortable working at pace, driven to get results and willing to get stuck in. Our culture is very down-to-earth so having confidence without ego is important to us, too. Our graduates come from all sorts of different backgrounds, with different degrees and interests but alignment with ABF's values and an ability to demonstrate the appropriate competencies are the key elements to success on our schemes.
