Job description

We are addressing the world’s appetite for energy by aligning our integrated consultancy teams with the needs and goals of developers, construction contractors, financiers and operators of energy infrastructure.

The Process Engineering team within our Nuclear business concentrates on the development, design, maintenance and project management of processes that manufacture various products through operations affecting the physical and chemical properties of materials. We also manage the use of resources, such as assets, raw materials, energy and people and finances, to meet client and other stakeholder’s quality, technical, commercial, safety and environmental requirements.

Many of our engineers are chartered and have a proven track record of providing high quality design and consultancy services. We encourage membership and networking activities in industry bodies including the IChemE and sector specific bodies like the Nuclear Institute as part of our team’s personal development.

Job responsibilities

As a process Engineer within our Nuclear team you can be involved in a whole range of activities including:

  • Process Plant Design
  • Options selection & evaluation
  • Value Engineering
  • Concept design
  • Equipment design & specification
  • Control system specification
  • CDM Assessment
  • Design Substantiation
  • DSEAR Assessments
  • Commissioning and Operations
  • Commissioning procedures
  • Preparation of commissioning test Documentation
  • Hands on commissioning support
  • Operational support & troubleshooting
  • Plant optimisation
  • Plant modifications.

Person requirements

  • Meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Fluent in English

Preferred requirements:

  • Drive, energy and ambition to achieve results.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience of working in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently.
  • Previous related work experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge or an understanding of relevant laws, regulations, processes and procedures, relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, HAZOP process etc. would be an advantage.

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • A graduate with a BSc/ BEng or MSc/ MEng in chemical engineering
  • A 2:2 (or equivalent) classification or above.
