The Graduate Communications (Signal Processing) Engineer role lies within the Satellite Communications Modem department, a centre of excellence for this technology within airbus defence and space. The role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the design, implementation and validation of cutting-edge Modem Products that sit at the heart of a Satellite Communications system.

Main activities of the role may include;

  • Working with Communication System Engineers and external stakeholders to develop and understand the key requirements and overall architecture for the technology development
  • Contributing to detailed design and analysis activities through simulation and mathematical modelling of communication system elements
  • The implementation of Digital Signal Processing algorithms on target platforms (e.g. FPGA devices), together with their integration and testing
  • Capturing design, implementation and test aspects and communicating them with other team members in both written and oral (presentation) form

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge and experience of the design trade-offs and implementation considerations (e.g. in software and/or firmware) involved in modern digital communications system
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • An ability and willingness to work constructively as part of a small team together with self-sufficiency on individual tasks

Qualifications

A degree in a relevant technical field, e.g. electrical and electronic engineering
