We want you to get the opportunity to develop innovative insurance solutions that fully meet the needs of our customers in this ever changing world.
We have a large and varied customer base in UK, so you could find yourself arranging insurance policies for a hotel in London, a motor fleet in the Midlands or a construction project in Scotland. You’ll gain a huge breadth of experience and will specialise in either corporate business or small and medium enterprises (SME).
For the 2018 intake several locations are available: Birmingham, Chelmsford, Guildford, Lancaster, Leeds, Luton, Maidstone, Manchester and Woking, so make sure you apply as early as possible.
What you’ll be doing
We’ve developed two types of two-year placements on this scheme for you to choose from, depending on your interests, aspirations and skills - trading underwriting or technical underwriting.
Trading Underwriting - you’ll establish positive relationships with brokers to create new business opportunities develop existing relationships and renew existing policies, taking charge of your own cases and building up your authority levels to handle ever increasing and complex risk. You’ll need to develop your excellent relationship building skills to establish close and long lasting relationships with your broker contacts. We have trading opportunities in our Maidstone and Lancaster offices; you'll spend a year in each location and work on our small and medium enterprise business area.
Underwriting is at the heart of any insurance company, so developing your skills in this core area during either placement opens the door to a whole range of opportunities - senior underwriter, technical management, pricing, account management - all with the potential to develop into senior leadership roles. Equally you could pursue a career in risk surveying, sales or operations. The opportunities are as varied and broad as the business and your aspirations.
