Job description

You will be part of the Arriva graduate programme which is our 18-month scheme where your time will be spent with CrossCountry and Arriva. The scheme is all about attracting and developing talented young people.

During the programme we will equip you with the skills and the practical experiences to become a great manager of the future. You’ll get to see everything from timetabling to train driving; fleet to finance; safety to service and management to pricing - plus everything else in between.

You will attend a series of graduate events and training modules where you gain knowledge about Arriva’s operations, strategy and business model and where you will meet Arriva’s senior managers and graduates from other countries. In addition to your main assignments and placements with CrossCountry you will be working on a project together with other Arriva graduates. You will be carefully supported by your mentor and will become part of an international graduate network.

CrossCountry is a train operating company and is part of the Arriva group, which is owned by Deutsche Bahn. Arriva is one of the largest providers of passenger transport in Europe, employing around 60,000 people and delivering more than 2.2 billion passenger journeys across 14 European countries each year. Arriva is responsible for DB's regional passenger transport services outside Germany.

Person requirements

  • You possess leadership potential and/or substantial technical knowledge
  • You have strong communication skills and you are fluent in English
  • You are either nationally or internationally mobile
  • You have a high-performance and achievement orientation
  • You’re are interested in innovation and can think creatively

Please note this role is safety critical. This means that any offer of employment will be conditional upon successful completion of a medical test.

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • You have completed a 2:1 bachelor degree or masters degree
  • Work experience is desirable
