About the role
We are looking for individuals to join our facilities management team, who work every day to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing, of both our buildings, and teams who work in them. This team plays a key role in delivering our mission and ensuring we are compliant with government regulations.
As an apprentice, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects of workplace management such as managing welfare concerns, undertaking risk-based inspections, supporting emergency training exercises, managing, and authorising new works requests. Other aspects include working with Project teams, reviewing and approving safe systems of work packs for breakdowns and maintenance, liaising with and supporting residential groups, and networking with customers.
The facilities management role at AWE covers a diverse set of skills and duties, across a variety of new and older facilities. One day you could be working with data to identify trends, the next you’ll be in a workshop solving issues for your building’s customers. Our Facilities Management apprenticeship scheme is devised to place a strong emphasis on the practical application of the skills you will learn and the knowledge you will develop, ensuring that you will be well-versed with a functional understanding of facilities management, but also to develop an extensive understanding of how AWE operates.
Our apprenticeship is a gateway into varied and broad career opportunities, and through a series of placements you’ll get breadth of experience across all of AWE’s teams and functions. You’ll support Senior Managers in delivering a flexible, varied and robust service, and as such you’ll need to be a good team player as well as be able to self-motivate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
During your apprenticeship journey, you will gain the following skills:

About you

- Five GCSEs (including English and Maths) grade 4/C or above
- Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2025 due to security clearance requirements
- You must be a British National to apply for a role with us.
These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health pre-employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process. All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
