Safety Engineering Graduate Programme

Job description

A lot of lives depend on the systems we maintain and deliver. So they need to work – even if something goes wrong. On this programme, you’ll learn about all the different factors to spot where weaknesses might occur. In the process, you’ll develop your understanding of everything from production and manufacturing to project management, design and safety.

Where you can join us

Places on our Safety Engineering graduate programme for Autumn 2019 are available within our Marine sector. But no matter which team you join, we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

What you'll be doing

You’ll get your head around a lot of different factors, to spot where weaknesses might lie. This will involve learning about everything from production and project management to design and safety. You'll also be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Health Physicists, Engineers and Human Factors specialists working together to ensure our operations remain safe. Your work will support the safe operation of our facilities and Royal Naval submarines. You’ll train to become a Safety Engineer, and provide safety case advice to ensure that the integrity of our infrastructure is maintained and projects are delivered safely.

What you'll get out of it

When you’re playing such an important role, you need great support to develop. And that’s what you’re going to get. You’ll be assigned a mentor who’ll help you achieve professional status. And you’ll be starting on a competitive salary of £28k - £30k.*

*Depending on location, role and qualifications.
