Job description
Many of the systems that we create are driven by our own high-performance software. From harsh environments to complex architectures and strict information assurance, our software needs to be proven, reliable and fully integrated. This programme will teach you how to achieve this for everything from an audio console to a handling system on a world-class ship.
Where you can join us
Places on our Software Engineering programme for Autumn 2020 are available in our Marine sector. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.
What you'll be doing
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll need to look at the big picture and understand how the software interacts with the system and its interfaces. You could be working on a huge variety of different projects. You could focus on something as small as an audio console for a communications project. Or you could work on something as large as a handling system on a world-class ship. Whatever you work on, you’ll be closely involved in the design, specification and testing of software and associated systems.
What you'll get out of it
The range of work you’ll cover will help you figure out where you excel. And once you know that, we’ll help you go as far as you can. We’ll support you as you work to become an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer and give you a competitive starting salary of £29k - £31k.
What we are looking for
This programme is accredited by the IET and IMechE, so you’ll need a 2:1 BEng (Hons) degree – and an accredited degree by one of those institutions is desirable You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).
