The GDF is our two-year scheme that develops people who are passionate about, and show great potential in, their chosen field of business or engineering. Each year we take in approximately 170 graduates.
By combining formal learning with real challenges across a number of placements, the GDF will give you a solid foundation for a successful career within one of our UK businesses
Graduate Development Framework: Engineering
Inspired engineering is the foundation of our business.
As a large employer of professional engineers, we support professional accreditation and have opportunities in a wide range of engineering disciplines including:
- Electrical & Electronic
Join our Electrical & Electronic Engineers and you’ll make decisions about electronic product content, optimise hardware and software design concepts, develop sophisticated design processes and test complex products.
- Manufacturing & Production/Operations
Working in Manufacturing & Production/Operations, you’ll balance costs, safety and quality to transform theoretical designs into physical products that satisfy our customers.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you can help turn ideas into products. You’ll deal with the fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance and repair of mechanical or electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, engines and systems.
- Naval Architects
Our Naval Architects deal with the basic structure of the marine system. Join them to help define the essential, core design features and elements that provide the framework for all that follows.
Software Engineers work at the heart of our electrical products at all stages of the product lifecycle. You’ll be involved in determining initial requirements, designing functional prototypes, developing production standard solutions and testing the finished product to its limits.
Join our Systems Engineers and you’ll focus on defining customer needs and required functionality, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem.
We have also employed graduates to roles in Aircraft Maintenance, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, Noise & Vibration Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Product Safety, Research and Structural Engineering.
