Do you possess the following skills?
Problem solving, strong communication, flexibility and adaptability, organisation, proactive, hard working, willingness to learn.
If you answered yes to the above question, a career in Quality could be for you.
You will train to become a Quality Engineer within the Quality Function on this extensive five-year degree apprenticeship programme. We will support you to balance your academic studies with on the job learning; allowing you to gain a degree in Project Management, whilst understanding how to link theory to common practice.
Quality is integral to the design, manufacturing and commissioning of the Submarines, which protect our nation and our way of life.
The Quality function uses its ability to investigate, assure, analyse, problem solve and engage with teams right across the business to ensure that our products are delivered to the right specifications, and that our processes deliver the expected outcomes. As a Function, we are continually improving our ways of working to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
The Quality Function is responsible for business and programme Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality Assurance, Quality Records, Quality Control, Quality Improvement, Quality Strategy & Capability; you will get to spend time with each department to understand what they do and why they do it.
As a Quality Engineer, you will work closely with all areas of the business, across a broad spectrum of tasks. These could range from dealing with senior stakeholders working directly on the product, to liaising with suppliers and improving Quality across the business.
What does the Apprenticeship involve?
Whilst you study for your degree, you will get to immerse yourself in a variety of placements across the business. Each with something different to offer, giving you the opportunity to explore both office and shop floor environments and helping you to gain the competencies you need to become an effective Quality Engineer.
You will learn from the most skilled subject matter experts in the business and receive support from the network of stakeholders that you build throughout your five-year degree apprenticeship.
In support of your degree apprenticeship, you will get to experience placements across the business, including quality, project management, project controls, operations and engineering. All of these will give you a breadth of experience and understanding of the business as a whole, and the importance of the quality function.
BAE Systems are committed to your development and alongside the apprenticeship and degree; there will be plenty of other opportunities to enrich your learning experience with work and challenges outside of your day-to-day role.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
We have sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Filton, Frimley, Ash Vale, Broad Oak and Weymouth, and we pride ourselves on employing the best professionals around. Join us and you'll be part of something important; something you can be proud of.
