By joining the Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability team, you will be able contribute your ideas and engineering/ construction/utilities experience to the work we do, supporting some of the most exciting and innovative projects around the world. It’s an opportunity to make a real, practical difference to the business from the very start. Helping to achieve Zero Harm, you will take an active part in projects, campaigns and initiatives to keep our workforce safe and healthy, and save lives on construction sites. You will also work to make sure our projects meet the necessary environmental criteria, and leave a positive legacy on the communities we work in.
On our Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability graduate scheme, you’ll work closely with the people who are driving the business towards achieving Zero Harm. The scheme will support the development of your skills, knowledge and experience, and will help you become an expert in your own field. Over the two year development programme, you’ll undertake a number of placements that will give you a taste of different business areas with each one offering an insight into the people, processes and technology that are transforming our business. Each placement will have real responsibility, a personal mentor and support for professional qualifications and membership to get your career off to a great start.
Our programme recognises the importance of giving meaningful and challenging work, so you can expect to be immersed in real activities and given responsibilities from the outset.
You will have the opportunity to work on live projects and to learn from a host of experienced and talented managers.
The Balfour Beatty Graduate scheme lasts for two years; you will follow a development programme that will equip you with the skills needed to become a business leader of the future. Throughout the two years, you’ll be supported by your line manager and have the opportunity to attend graduate-based events, where you will work with your peers, develop interpersonal skills and share best practice. You will join a graduate cohort and be assigned Business Improvement and Corporate Social Responsibility Projects that can affect the way we work as a business.
