Internship Opportunities

Still recruiting throughout COVID‑19

Job description

Think everyone has years of experience? Think again.

At the Bank of England we have a rich history, we’re certainly not stuck in the past. We’re not all about money and numbers either. We don’t hold accounts or issue loans to the public. Instead, we oversee the entire financial system and keep it going.

Think you can’t work with us? Think again. We offer paid internships to university students in their first and penultimate years, as well as those about to begin postgraduate study.

First year internship supporting a team on a specific project across one of our business areas such as HR, technology and banking supervision.

  • Six weeks over summer
  • £82.69 a day
  • You must be a first year undergraduate from any background

Penultimate year internship supporting analysts, economists or supervisors, often working on a specific project.

  • Eight weeks over summer
  • £88.46 a day
  • You must be a first-degree, penultimate-year undergraduate from any background

Postgraduate internship working closely with economists or analysts to collect and analyse data.

  • Eight weeks over summer
  • £83.65 a day
  • You’ll have completed your undergraduate degree and be starting a Master’s in Economics or Finance

On all the internships if you do a great job you may be offered a place on a subsequent internship or one of our graduate programmes.

So whatever your qualifications and experience, there are lots of opportunities to join us.

No matter the route you choose, we’ll value your perspectives and support you from day one. It’s a really collaborative and innovative environment, so you’ll need to be a great team player with plenty of ideas. And, importantly, we’re after people who are keen to learn and up for a challenge. Are you?
