Job description

Design assurance and authorisation facilitates the collation of supporting evidence and documentation required during the authorisation process. This process requires understanding the relevant standards applicable to each project, advising how each of the requirements must be satisfied and the type of supporting evidence required through validation (testing), considering and applying for deviations and derogations from standards as and when they are required. As part of the process, evidence is compiled into reports which are submitted to the authorities for train authorisation.

Bombardier Graduate Scheme is a two-year programme aimed at bringing out the best out of the individual. You can expect to do placements across the various departments to gain a wider knowledge of the rail industry; including: Safety and Reliability, Vehicle Dynamics and Materials Engineering. On the job learning is complemented by a modular and personal development programme. Supported by a mentor you will work towards gaining relevant chartered status with one of the engineering bodies such as the IMechE or IET.

Person requirements

Qualifications and experience requirements

You will need a minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng, in automotive, aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering from courses with a product integration and system engineering content. In addition we seek applications from graduates with a BSc or MSc in maths, physics, chemistry/materials or a manufacturing discipline. Candidates must have excellent problem solving skills and a passion for making things happen.
