Bootham School York
Bootham is not a typical independent school. We’re not that big, we have a junior school and a senior school, and at the senior site about a quarter of our students are boarders. Our ethos supports our young people to live adventurous lives that serve to create a better world. We have a unique atmosphere of respectful informality, where students call staff by their first names, and all who work and learn here consider themselves part of one friendly body.
‘Res Grads’ live in our boarding houses and support the pastoral care and recreational activities of both day and boarding students aged from 11 to 18. Bootham’s Quaker ethos underpins a ‘whole person’ education which aims to fully address the real needs of today’s young people.
