The importance of the Programme
We take our Early Careers development very seriously. We’ve got a long history of running successful graduate programmes and we really want to help you gain some valuable experience in a business that will give you a springboard into your career.

Our two-year structured graduate scheme combines critical on the job experiences alongside a development programme that builds your self-awareness and leadership potential, gives you access to senior leaders and an opportunity to work on real business challenges.

You’ll start your journey within one of our UK stores. This will help you to understand the heart of our business and the part you’ll play in making our customers feel good.

What you’ll be doing on the programme
You’ll be given a broad experience and the opportunity to develop your technical skills across a range of technologies within the IT delivery team. We operate against a broad technology stack supporting our whole retail and pharmacy businesses both in-store and online. These range from classic point of sale and supply systems, across standard .Net and Java stacks and through to more modern platforms such as Salesforce and Hadoop. We constantly assess our systems and market trends to ensure that we have the right systems for the right purposes.

Rotations may include time spent in one or more of the following area:

Environment Management
You will be responsible managing and building test environments to support the testing of complex systems in an ever changing technical landscape.

Code Development
You will be responsible for delivering IT solutions that meet the requirements and can be supported effectively. This includes designing, coding, unit testing and initial support. The role requires technical ability, attention to detail and good communication skills

Applications Management
You will help analyse and resolve technical issues in the live environment. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage stakeholders in a pressurised environment, and a good ability to present facts supporting root cause and well thought out options for resolving issues

What you’ll gain on the programme
We know how tough it can be getting your first job out of university, and we really want to help you do that in the best way possible.

On this programme you’ll gain a broad view of the I.T function and access to leaders around the business. Setting you up for the next step of your career in IT, this could be as a Project Manager, Business Analyst or Software Developer.
