Commercial Graduate

Job description

Develop your commercial skills and the future of global energy.

Find your future at BP
At BP we’re striving to meet growing global demand for safe, sustainable and affordable energy. That means creating a more efficient, streamlined business that makes the best possible use of its resources. So together, we can lead the way to a lower carbon future.

We’re evolving every part of our operation to transform the way people connect, work and make time to think – all while welcoming new, diverse talent to keep pushing our ideas forward. From finding, developing and producing oil and gas resources to refining, manufacturing and selling related products, we all have a role to play in keeping the world moving.

About the opportunity
Every year, BP invests billions of dollars searching for new sources of energy and supplying our customers with the fuels they need. You’ll help ensure we make the best use of this investment. Join us as a Commercial Graduate here, and we’ll invest in you, too, in a programme that gives you the opportunity to work in three 12-month rotations around our Supply and trading business. Combining formal training with on-the-job experience, this programme offers an unusual opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a variety of commercial roles.

Supply and trading at BP is one of the world’s largest and most successful energy trading organisations. We engage in controlled trading around our asset and supply position and the commodities we trade go way beyond crude oil and natural gas. They also include everything from foreign exchange, interest rates and precious metals to bio fuels, carbon credits and power.

You’ll be working in roles that span the entire spectrum of what we trade. Each role will allow you to make a tangible contribution to BP’s performance. You could be working as part of a team that sets strategy, tracks the market, handles foreign exchange, or evaluates a clean energy development.

Whether you’re analysing data, organising shipping operations, or directly supporting our traders, we’ll give you first-hand exposure to our supply and trading activities that will contribute to building your long-term career prospects. At the end of the three years, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for a wide range of interesting roles with us, including international opportunities.

Support and guidance will always be on hand. We’ll give you a business mentor, assign you to a recent former graduate, and provide lots of opportunities to link up with the wider graduate network at BP. You’ll also benefit from insights from a panel of dedicated business specialists who will help guide your personal development throughout the programme.

What we are looking for

It takes a diverse group of talented people to help us create real change. So we’re committed to fostering new talent from the widest background.

We expect a high level of academic achievement, but you could be studying for a degree in any academic discipline. Every bit as important will be the individual attributes and personal qualities you bring to our team.

You’ll need to be a highly collaborative person who wants to work with others to tackle complex problems and drive real change. As a company that never compromises on values, ethics and safety, you’ll also need to be someone who’s committed to doing the right thing.
