About this role

We have around 1.2 million customers and serve over half the FTSE 350. Our customers range from big household names, government departments, and public service organisations right through to small businesses and new start-ups. We cover both the communications and IT services markets. Overall, we’re focused on four main product markets: Fixed Voice; Mobility; Fibre and Connectivity; Network IT services provided over the biggest UK network in both fixed and mobile communications.

As a Desk Based Account Manager, you’ll be responsible for a small number of medium-sized accounts, or in some instances, as the single point of contact for one large client, to provide in-life customer support and straightforward cross-sell and upsell opportunities. You will understand the customer's needs and challenges and look for ways to create a brilliant customer experience.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be able to showcase your commercial awareness, identify a new range of opportunities for your customers, and develop great working relationships with stakeholders, sharing knowledge and collaborating. The best part is that we’ll help you develop so that you can work professionally and independently, taking responsibility and initiative as appropriate.

This job is available in the Enterprise part of our business.

About the apprenticeship you’ll study for:

As a Desk Based Account Manager, you’ll study for a Level 4 apprenticeship, called Sales Executive.

Your apprenticeship scheme will last 18 months and 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to studying. 

You would receive an annual apprentice pay review of up to10% (which is the October pay progression) plus an annual BT pay increase.

Following your apprenticeship will completely depend on the programme they are doing.

What we are looking for

You’ll need to achieve five GCSEs at grades 4 – 9 (GCSE C or above), including English Language and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are also accepted.
