What does it involve?
Network Engineering involves designing solutions to enable communications across the UK and the entire world. That means gathering and analysing requirements, developing high level solutions, selecting network equipment, configuring a wide range of devices, and then testing.

Working alongside specialists in communications, electronics and information technology, you’ll carry out a range of development and integration services. Your role could either focus on applied research, or on the technical aspects of IT and communications engineering projects.

Person requirements

Everyone who joins this technology programme needs a strong technical background as well as a genuine passion for technology. In addition, strong analytical skills and logical reasoning are essential.

An innovative and commercially astute individual, you embrace change and are passionate about learning new skills. Putting customers first, you take responsibility for delivering improvement and results in all you do. Crucially, you enjoy building relationships and working with others.

In addition, you should have a demonstrable working knowledge of IP networks, protocols and network components, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to customers. Strong design and development skills are also vital to your success.

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • You’ll need to have or expect either a 2.1 degree or a 2.2 degree with an additional postgrad degree
