Rail Operations - Management Graduate Scheme

Job description

Set your sights on a management career with FirstGroup and set off on a fast-moving learning journey in the exciting world of rail operations. Our two year programme is designed to broaden your experience by challenging your abilities. Going on a variety of placements, you’ll get stuck into real-life projects and learn on-the-job alongside some of the best minds in the industry.

At FirstGroup, we operate a number of UK rail franchises – placing graduates in Great Western Railway, TransPennine Express and South Western Railway. Together we run over 1,200 vehicles and transport 140 million rail passengers a year. So, where better to launch your career in rail operations?

Making a big impact on our operations and the lives of millions of customers, you’ll develop your strategic thinking and the skills you need to become a future leader. Starting out as a general management graduate, you’ll:

  • Gain hands-on experience with our train, station and customer service teams
  • Go on a placement with Network Rail
  • Get to grips with project and contract management
  • Spend time with our performance, safety, commercial, operations and finance teams
  • Analyse data, present proposals and identify new opportunities.

As a leading transport services operator in the UK and North America, FirstGroup provides easy and convenient mobility, improving quality of life by connecting people and communities. Our graduate programme will help you achieve your ambitions, offering excellent training, support and mentorship.

Programme starts: September 2020.
