What does a Data Analytics and Knowledge Management (Biopharm) industrial placement have to offer?
At GSK we believe that Biopharm medicines are key to achieving our ambitions in immuno-oncology and other immunologically driven diseases. We are growing our UK-based Biopharm team focussed on Medicines Discovery and using cutting edge technologies to bring medicines of the future faster to patients who need them. As a result there is continuous growth in demand for support activities in data publication, visualisation and analysis in Biopharm Discovery to help us discover these medicines that will make a difference to patient’s lives.
You, as an IP student in the Data Analytics and Knowledge Management team within Biopharm Discovery, will be mentored and supervised by a scientist with deep expertise in both the medicines discovery process and the software-informatics systems that support our data-driven decision making. We gather large experiment data sets on sequence structure, biological activities and physico-chemical properties of antibodies from our medicine discovery campaigns. We integrate that data and store it in our cloud-based data warehouse which is our knowledgebase for visualisation, analytics and data-driven decision making to find future medicines.
You will gain unique experience in a growing field in the pharmaceutical industry on scientific data integration, learn how to combine data from a range of sources and best practise in data blending. Gain skills in data analytics such as how to perform analyses on multiparametric datasets to test hypotheses to design medicines along with data visualisation where you will work with leaders and team members to design a dashboard to present datasets clearly and in ways which facilitate understanding and deliver new insights. You will gain insights into influencing business decisions with data to answer specific questions and provide organisational insights for objective, data-driven decision-making.
