Job description

To carry out day-to-day environmental and administrative based tasks to ensure compliance with site requirements. Gathering accurate data for internal and external reporting in a timely manner. To support the Monitoring Technician in field duties to cover periods of additional monitoring and holiday cover. To support the site management in administrative tasks and fieldwork to deliver the site objectives.

Key duties

  • Checking incoming waste paperwork and associated information
  • Following waste disposal procedures
  • Maintaining a waste inspection log
  • Communicating with customers, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders
  • Fieldwork and monitoring e.g. maintenance of gas and leachate infrastructure and collection of gas, leachate or waste samples
  • Operate the environmental database, MP5, to ensure data is recorded and transferred between parties efficiently
  • Manage the site dust monitoring requirement through the AirQ32 software, and maintaining the network of remote monitoring stations
  • Proofing data collected to ensure it is accurate and investigate where it is not; implementing corrective action if possible
  • To ensure non-conformances and potential non-conformances are communicated to the site management
  • To be involved in the running of the Integrated Management System for safety, health, environment and quality
  • Contractor management including inductions, supervision and assistance where required
  • To fully understand the environmental management and monitoring systems in place to enable assessment of their performance
  • Ensure full compliance with all company policies and procedures including health and safety and employment
  • Any other duties, such as ad-hoc projects, as requested by the management that are within the skills and capabilities of the job holder

Person requirements

  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities to themselves and others
  • Enjoy working outside in all conditions, including physical work
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpretive skills
  • Able to work within potentially difficult environments i.e.: wearing protective suits and respirators
  • Strong desire to learn and develop
  • Team worker with ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to offer ideas and thoughts for discussion to promote continual improvement
  • Mobile plant
  • Full driving licence

Qualifications and experience requirements

Chemistry A-level or equivalent.
