Standing in a building, knowing you designed solutions that made it what it is: how it feels, how it functions, how it looks… That’s the moment great engineering comes to life.
What are you looking for?
Are you an aspiring design engineer looking to make a difference to the world around you? Do you want the chance to grow, learn, and be supported by industry leaders? This ever-changing world will be shaped by the buildings put into it; and we know it’s often the newest minds who have the brightest ideas.
What can we offer you?
As a leading international firm of consulting engineers, we didn’t build a 150-year legacy by standing still. The built environment is where our design-led work can carve out a better future for the planet and its people. For us, it’s about putting heart, soul, innovation and sustainability into the buildings we work on. You will receive the best training and development through our initial professional development scheme, which is accredited by all three of our governing bodies in the industry. We recently won the IET long running scheme award recognising 25 years of continuous accreditation. We are committed to the ongoing professional development of our graduates and support you towards achieving chartered engineer or incorporated engineer status.
What could you be part of?
These days, engineering is a lot more than pipes and wires; we look at the building as a whole and are involved in every stage, from initial client discussions right through to construction and even the building’s ongoing performance. We collaborate with colleagues, architects and other construction professionals, playing a critical role in every building’s design.
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic graduate to join the newly formed Intelligent Buildings Group (IBG). The group is a vendor independent information technology consultancy working with digital business to identify and exploit technology that delivers efficient, flexible and robust solutions that add value to our Clients operation. This incorporates AV, comms, Security and BMS specialism within a single offering providing a fully coordinated and efficient design.
What might you be doing?
As a graduate engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You could produce detailed designs and drawings, use the latest computer modelling software, undertake site surveys, or research ground-breaking technologies. Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.
Why does our work make a difference?
We play a major role in driving sustainable development. We help create some of the most innovative low-carbon buildings, pushing the limit on what’s possible. Our projects cover almost every sector – from healthcare, residential and retail, to defence, arts and heritage and education – ranging from small studies and reports to large-scale developments valued at more than £4billion.
