ICAS – a long history and a bright future
ICAS is the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. We are proud of our roots, but now train all over the UK and provide a globally recognised qualification.
We were the world’s first professional body of Chartered Accountants, but our focus is firmly on the future. Over 160 years of experience have gone into refining our CA qualification, creating a broad-scope course that is fit for the modern business world.
The CA designation is exclusive to our Members, no other institute or organisation in the UK can use it.
Qualifying you for more than accountancy
The 22,000 CAs in the ICAS membership don’t just work as accountants.
With those two letters after your name, you could go on to work at the highest levels of finance and business, at a charity, government body or cutting-edge tech firm.
Furthermore, for those with an entrepreneurial streak, our CA qualification provides the key skills required to launch a successful business.
Your world of opportunity
The CA qualification and the expertise it provides are highly valued on an international level, providing lucrative opportunities for our members worldwide.
And that breadth of career possibilities, along with the constant need for qualified accountants, makes chartered accountancy a well-paid, highly recession-proof profession with fantastic long-term prospects.
It doesn’t stop once you’ve qualified. Our ongoing programme of professional development, training, networking and mentoring helps our members to continually advance their careers.
Who can become an ICAS CA?
No previous experience in accountancy or business is required to begin training with us, because everything you need to know is covered by our syllabus.
To follow the school-leaver route to becoming a CA, all you need are good Higher or A Level results, like those that would secure a place at university.
For graduate entrants, a good degree-pass is required – accountancy, non-accountancy and international degrees all accepted.
Training CAs across the UK
The first step to become a CA is to sign a training agreement with an ICAS-authorised employer, and we offer vacancies across the UK, at a range of company types and sizes.
Learning and exams are delivered across the UK through a flexible blend of online and face-to-face support and resources. No matter where or how you train, you will have guidance and support dedicated to helping you achieve success, through the first-class ICAS experience.
So, whilst you study for, and pass, your exams, you’ll earn a competitive salary, put your learning into practice and gain invaluable real-world experience.
If you’ve got an interest in business, a willingness to learn and work hard, launch your career as a Chartered Accountant, with the ICAS CA qualification.
