About Institute of Physics

As a leading scientific society, one of our core aims is to secure a flourishing future for physics.

We want exceptional physics and engineering graduates in the classroom, developing the next generation of physicists and engineers. We're even offering £30,000 tax-free scholarships and school experience placements to help you get there.

Teaching physics is a rewarding and stimulating career - not only will you make the most of the skills and knowledge you have acquired from your degree, you will leave work at the end of the day feeling satisfied that you are inspiring others and improving their futures.

Why teach physics?

No single day in the classroom is the same. You will be required to think on your feet and use your creativity to address new challenges and answer unique questions.

Although you will need to be resilient and patient, and have excellent communication skills, you will be supported throughout your training as you discover what it takes to become an inspirational teacher.

The Institute of Physics offers free membership for undergraduate students studying for a first degree in physics or a related subject anywhere in the world.
