Design Creative Undergraduate

Job description

From the Defender and the XJ to the Evoque and the F-Type, our design team has produced some of the most recognisable vehicles ever made. But that’s not stopping us from looking to the future.

Our latest creation, the revolutionary I-Pace, has been imagined by a new generation of designers. And you can join them to produce more. With an appreciation of our customers’ expectations, you’ll use your vision to transform insights into global trends and your creativity to generate highly innovative product solutions using a variety of 2D and 3D media.

With ongoing support and opportunities to gain further skills, everything you do will help us imagine the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and keep us at the forefront of automotive design. Opportunities exist within;

Interiors/exteriors

Our Interior and Exterior Design teams work towards the creation and delivery of all our vehicles.  They are responsible for creating conceptual designs at the earliest stages of a project through to the co-ordination and delivery of feasible solutions, resulting in the release of data for tooling.  These roles demand high levels of creativity, whether developing new strategic design concepts or delivering virtual and physical design properties to the highest level of maturity and refinement.  Our Interior and Exterior designers work hand in hand with functions across the business to challenge conventional thinking and ensure we design and deliver products and experiences people love for life.

Colours and materials

Use your creative skills and bring 2D concepts off the page. Assist in the design and development of colour and material technologies from an interior and exterior point of view – from concept phase and beyond.  Through challenging current methods, this will enable innovation of materials and finishes for our products.  Your collaboration with 3D Design teams, Internal Makers and external suppliers will help transform concepts to deliver a blend of both performance and luxury for the future of transport.

Interface design

The Interface Design team is an important part of the design studio delivering highly creative designs for the overall human experience and interaction within the car. Core to this is the design of the digital screen surfaces and physical interfaces. Working with various stakeholders including the Interior Design team you will create innovative concepts and experiences and develop them through to fully production feasible, exquisite designs. The team requires undergraduates with backgrounds in digital graphic design, motion graphics, automotive and product design. Key to this is truly creative thinking. You’ll also be involved in complex negotiations within the wider business and therefore the ability to express our design vision is critical.

Rewards and benefits

Your innovation and creativity will be challenged every day, as you develop a rigorous and commercially focused approach in your work. And, with on-going support from industry leading experts and continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes have been designed to be as inspiring as the pioneering vehicles you’ll help produce.

Whichever part of the business you join your hard work and contribution deserves recognition. For those on placements of longer than three months there is a generous holiday allowance. There are a range of other benefits and regular social events so plenty of chances to make friends and have fun too.

Play your part – apply now.

This undergraduate programmes has a fixed start date commencing June 22, 2020 and will run for a duration of three, six or 12 months.
