Design – Studio Modelling (12 Months)
Jaguar Land Rover Design can be split into creative and delivery pillars. Within the creative pillar sits the Studio Modelling function which consists of the Clay Modelling team, Creative Aesthetics & Surface development (CAS) team and Design Visualisation & Animation (DVA) team. These teams work together to develop 2D drawings and engineering packages into Photo realistic images or animations and
Physical properties. Opportunities exist within:
Creative Aesthetics & Surface development (CAS)
Digital Design is a highly creative department working within the virtual world that provides high level 3D digital solution to 2D ideation. The developed digital concept provides the support for virtual and physical properties used for presentation material in achieving design gateways, Board Reviews and other various high level Design reviews. Interpreting 2D sketch work and applying it to engineering package data to produce credible Design solutions for the wider business to reference. Brand specific teams are based in each studio.
As a member of the CAS team you will interact and collaborate with many different teams throughout Design. The data you produce will help to inform Engineering teams of current or intended Design surface treatment. It will provide the basis for the majority of imagery and animations produced by the DVA team. The data will also be used to inform the production of scale and full size clay models and then by applying clean surface geometry over digital scan of the Clay Model, provide a digital twin to the physical property as it progresses through the Design process.
Design Visualisation & Animation (DVA)
The DVA team are a highly creative and multi-faceted team that provide compelling and exciting Still Images, Animations, Virtual Presentation material and film assets, to the highest standards of visual quality. Using CG industry recognised software and processes, these creative outputs are used in presentation material that support Design in achieving gateways, facilitating Board reviews and a variety of other high-level reviews and events. From an initial concept all the way through a vehicle program to its launch to the world, the DVA team provide on-brand visual stimulus.
As a member of the DVA team you will be multi-facing, interacting and collaborating with many customers both internal to Design and external across the wider business, including Digital suppliers. Using digital data from the CAS and surfacing teams, the DVA team are required to provide both creative and technical digital solutions that promote a vehicle concept or idea. As a vehicle moves towards the launch phase, the DVA team support a program with digital imagery, animations and film assets to highest levels of photorealism for use on social media platforms. Researching new processes, techniques and technologies is an important part of the role to ensure that the team stay at the forefront of Automotive Visualisation.
With ongoing support and opportunities to gain further skills, everything you do will help us imagine the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and keep us at the forefront of automotive design.
All our undergraduate programmes have a fixed start date commencing June 21st 2021 and will run for a duration of 12 months.
