Product Engineering Operations leads in to various areas, such as the below:

Product Analysis & & Verification (PAV):

PAV are responsible for Road Load Date, Noise Vibration & Harshness, Climatic Test, Structural Test, Vehicle Safety Test, Vehicle Crash Prep, Vehicle Semi Anaecoic Chambers and Electric Test

PAV forms the backbone of JLR's internal test and development capability and is responsible for a wide and diverse range of activities including Structural Test, Vehicle Safety Test, Road Load Data, Climatic Test, NVH and Electrical Test. The department operates at both Gaydon & Whitley sites and is responsible for the delivery of physical testing, which forms the foundation of the vehicle verification processes. The effective operation, maintenance and development of these advanced workshop facilities is essential in delivering robust test services to engineering functions throughout PD and the wider JLR business.

Developing measurement tools & techniques and electronic interfaces primarily for Product Development

The Instrumentation Technical & Electronics:

Our team are responsible for developing and delivering solutions for measurement, control or connection to the vehicles and test rigs that are used by Product Engineering. A key role is fulfilling the measurement needs of new vehicle technologies. The Electronics team develop interfaces and tools that support JLR users across Research, Product Development and Manufacturing.

You will undertake a modern apprenticeship under the auspices of the Trailblazer standards. This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge required for your particular role in the business. This is all achieved whilst developing your behaviours, as we are not just interested in what you accomplish, but the manner in which you do it.

As well as gaining commercial and professional experience, you’ll also achieve academic and vocational qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
  • Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Manufacture (Development Competence)
  • BEng (Hons) Degree in Applied Engineering
  • Expect to achieve a BEng in Applied Engineering, NVQs relevant to your specific job and top class on-the-job training that will support and focus you on becoming highly competent to deliver in the role.

What you'll need

You’ll need maths and English Language GCSE C Grade or above (Grade 4-9). In addition you will need three GCSE’s (or equivalent) including a science, engineering or technology at C Grade or above, or as an alternative, an Engineering Vocational qualification Level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH). Also, you’ll need one of the following two:

Two A Levels to include maths and an additional mathematical/physics/chemistry/technology or engineering subject at C Grade or above.

Or A Level maths at C Grade or above plus an Engineering Level 3 qualification of 120 credit value (720 GLH)
