Bluestar Software and Bournemouth University are about to embark on an exciting project using Computer Vision and Deep Learning to create an innovative product for use in forensic applications. This is a grant assisted Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) that provides all the benefits of a graduate recruitment programme with the excitement of working in a small, dynamic company with support and guidance from the University. This project gives the successful candidate access to a personal development budget of over £5,000 as well as a substantial equipment budget.
The project involves Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and will focus on: (1) developing the enabling technology for real-time intelligence delivery across a range of inputs (B&W impressions, RGB photographs, 3D point clouds of shoeprints) inclusive of partial and/or noisy patterns; and (2) improving the scalability, robustness and timeliness of pattern matching algorithms in the forensic context. The project team are looking for a Computer Vision and Deep Learning Engineer to prototype a system for forensic footprint matching, by exploring and exploiting existing CN architectures, and modify them to the project needs. You’ll be based at Bluestar Software, a stable, successful and growing business based in the beautiful surroundings of Stratfield Saye, away from the hustle and bustle of a town or city centre.
This post is available on a fixed-term basis for a period of 31 months.
