Digital R&D Engineer - Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) – Associate

Job description

This is an exciting new opportunity to shape the way engineering is taught in universities around the world. You will be expected to show leadership in creating new and innovative educational tools which make use of augmented reality to overlay simulation analysis and other information onto laboratory equipment such as wind tunnels, pumps and heat exchangers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Digital R & D Engineer to work full time on a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project. This is a collaborative project between TecQuipment Ltd and Nottingham Trent University, funded by Innovate UK.

As a KTP Associate you will principally be work within the company in Nottingham, alongside a team of experts from one of the world’s leading educational equipment manufacturers. Further support will be provided by top researchers from Nottingham Trent University. You will also be asked to undertake educational research at the university to evidence the impact the new tools developed have on student learning.

The KTP Associate will have access to all the university resources and receive professional training in engineering software, augmented reality toolsets and project management to enable them to meet the project goals. The successful candidate will become a thought leader in the application of AR to educational products and go on to lead implementation of these new technologies across a range of existing and new products once the project is complete.

Additional Information: this position forms part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. As a KTP Associate you will work within the company to embed new know-how through this innovation project, with research and academic support from the University knowledge base. The Associate role provides an opportunity for you to apply your degree through real work and springboard your career.

What we are looking for

Candidates need to have good mechanical engineering understanding, experience of conducting engineering analysis (CFD, FEA, programming) and business know how.
