Training contract

At Latham we’re invested in our trainees, as both lawyers and individuals. We’re committed to equipping you with all the resources you’ll need to move your legal career forward, whatever path you choose. We are firm with an ambitious and dedicated personality. You will experience:

  • A three-week induction to get to know your peers and transition into life at Latham.
  • Four, six-month seats, two of these in corporate and finance.
  • A client or international secondment (depending on business need).

Vacation schemes

We hold three vacation schemes throughout the year. Our winter vacation scheme runs for one week in one practice area. The spring and summer schemes run for two weeks across two practice areas.

Our vacation schemes are a great opportunity for us to get to know each other before you graduate.

You’ll have the chance to be involved with real client-facing work, giving you a taste of life as a trainee lawyer at Latham.

You’ll also meet a range of people through a number of social activities. You’ll sit in a designated practice area, prioritised according to your preferences.

  • Minimum degree grade: 2:1
  • Minimum A levels: AAB

Dates and deadlines

Vacation schemes:

  • Winter 16-20 December 2019
  • Spring 30 March-9 April 2020
  • Summer 29 June-10 July 2020

The deadline to apply for the winter scheme is 27 October 2019, and 5 January 2020 for spring and summer.

Open days will be held on the:

  • 29 November 2019
  • 4 December 2019
  • 26 February 2020
  • 25 March 2020

To gain a place on an open day in 2019 you’ll need to apply by the 10 November 2019. The application deadline for open days in 2020 is 9 February 2020.
