Within the Technical Directorate, the Integration & System Validation (ISV) function play a critical role in the development and proving of MBDA’s new and existing products. ISV engineers work day to day on a variety of tasks such as; aircraft/naval integration activities, compatibility testing and trials support/conduct.
Our Summer Placements run a duration of 10, 11 or 12 weeks across the Summer, the placement offers excellent learning and development opportunities that will utilise both engineering and team work skills to help deliver integration and proving solutions to a range of complex weapon systems.
What will you be doing?
A role within the Integration and Systems Validation function will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work within a number of technical areas, including mechanical & electrical engineering, test equipment and trials conduct.
As a summer placement within Integration and System Validation Engineer you will gain experience in the following key areas:
- The planning of how our products will be proved
- Preparation for the trial / test
- Conduct of trials and tests
- Reporting of proving activities
- Assessment of the adequacy of proving
- Establishing the extent of compliance of our products
- The certification of our products to the Customer
- Integration of our products onto the candidate platform
The role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to work with Missile Hardware on a day-to-day basis, on a wide variety of projects such as Meteor, PAAMS and Loitering Munitions. In addition, depending on the project, the candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with military organisations and hardware, for example Gripen, Tornado and Eurofighter with Meteor and the new UK Type 45 destroyer with PAAMS. As our products are put to trial throughout the world, there is the added opportunity of travel and participating in a Live Product firing.
Current ISV Graduates have been involved with systems proving activities on MBDA’s CAAM/FLAADS, ASRAAM, Brimstone and Storm Shadow projects and this has included working with platforms such as the F-35 Lightning II, Eurofighter Typhoon, Type 26 Frigates and the AH-64 Apache .
Depending on placements there may be the opportunity for the candidate to undertake national and international travel when conducting trials activities.

Qualifications and experience requirements
You should be working towards a degree in Maths, Physics or Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
